Garment Designs
As an advocate against fast fashion and impracticality, I like to design, redesign, and create repurposed and practical garments with my own personal style
My Favorites...
The "Harvest" Dress
"I picked this dress up at a thrift store when I was drawn to the rich golden floral pattern and the pleats at the waist. The original bodice style was not fitted and the sleeves were padded, however it did include pockets; a rare and much needed accessory in modern women's fashion."
My Process:
1. I first sketched a rough design of what I wanted the dress to look like
2. I formed the body of the dress
3. I couldn't decide between sleeves or no sleeves
4. I asked for some advice
5. And decided on no sleeves
Creating a drawing is a good guide especially for a project that may take some time
I used my dress form as a model to get the pleats and darts just right
I decided on no sleeves. I love how it turned out!

I ended up changing the style of the sleeves. I also added this red leather belt, a hand-me-down from my great grandmother.

Maid of Orleans
"As a practicing Catholic youth of the Erie Diocese, I was honored to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Traditionally, confirmands wear red and white to symbolize the Fire of the Spirit and purity. Each Confirmand also chooses a patron saint in hopes of imitating in some small way his or her virtue in following Christ. I chose St. Joan of Arc for her courage and obedience to God."
1. I found a lovely lace tablecloth at a local thrift store
2. I used muslin to create a lining with a style based off a dress I had in my closet
3. I used a sleeve pattern to make sleeves for this dress but I didn't like how they turned out so I designed my own shorter ones
4. My grandmother gave me a beautiful belt to wear with it
Green Dress
The perfect dress for a spring ball
I designed this dress in my sketchbook and was excited to create it. I found the material a thrift store (a beautiful set of sage bedsheets that had some small tears) Unfortunately, the design went untouched for a couple years. Because of the pandemic, there were no regency dances being hosted, thus I did not have much motivation.
When lockdowns were finally easing up, my friends and I hosted a ball as a fundraiser for a local pregnancy help center. I finished the dress just in time for the ball!
